Upcycled 70s White Vintage Dress

I found this dress at an antique shop on the way to Galax, VA. I wasn’t sure of the era – to me it feels very “Little House on the Prairie”. But, the shop keeper said he thought it was from the 70′s because apparently this type of fabric was popular back then. I loved all the bodice detailing, and the flowing skirt, but it was a bit much. All it needed was to remove the sleeves and some length to be perfectly wearable (without funny looks). Click on the images below for a better look at the steps I took and to see more pics of the final dress check it out at my etsy shop.

  1. Missy: OMG. This is my prom dress, circa 1974. I looked terrible in white but loved feeling like a daughter of the prairie.

  2. Love the transformation!
